Workshops to be held on proposed changes to Maori authority tax laws

Over 1000 people have already signed up for workshops to be held over the next three weeks to discuss proposals set out in the Government discussion document "Taxation of Maori organisations", released on 9 August. The purpose of the workshops, which are being held throughout the country, is to provide information on the proposals and to help people and organisations make submissions. The workshops are being run by officials from Inland Revenue, Te Puni Kokiri and the Treasury, and are open and free to anyone who would like to attend. To register, ring your local Inland Revenue Office and ask to speak to a Maori Community Liaison Officer, or ring your local Te Puni Kokiri office.
