PRESS RELEASE
Finance and Expenditure Committee will consult on GST changes
The Finance and Expenditure Committee will be calling for submissions on proposed changes to the GST treatment of non-residents, announced Mark Peck MP, the Chairperson of the Finance and Expenditure Committee. The committee will also call for submissions on proposed amendments relating to the transfer of over-paid tax, which the Minister of Revenue will be referring to the committee with the GST proposals. "The committee is committed to an open process in its consideration of legislation and looks forward to hearing the public's views on the proposals," said Mark Peck. The committee expects to receive the amendments from the Minister next week and will call for submissions at that time. The submissions will be considered in the course of the committee's examination of the Taxation (Annual Rates, Taxpayer Assessment and Miscellaneous Provisions) Bill due to be reported to the House on 4 October.
