Tax review meets, plans consultation

The Tax Review team announced in October by Finance and Revenue Minister Michael Cullen had its first meeting this week. In a statement issued today, chairman Rob McLeod said the public will have an opportunity to make submissions to the review in December, with a second round of submissions expected around Easter. Tax Review 2001, First Meeting and Consultation Process

The members of the Tax Review 2001 met for the first time on Wednesday and Thursday of this week Rob McLeod, Chair of the Tax Review, said today.

The Review made significant progress working through the terms of reference.

The Review members agreed to two stages of consultation with the public. The first stage will involve a request for initial public submissions in December, with a second round of submissions in response to a discussion paper expected around Easter.

The final report will be published in September 2001.
